Living the Life

It's been forEVER since I posted. Life's been moving so fast since I decided to start up my fabulous photography business. Two part time jobs and a full time job (mommy-hood) has kept me quite busy. Let's catch up:

Jesse is 6 months and 3 weeks old!

Eating: when last we left, Jesse was just doing cereal and had tried Avocados. Since then, he has had sweet potatoes (which he loved, but we're a little thick so it lasted a long time after I thinned out the batch I had), Peas (which did not go over well, but he ate them), Bananas (he had a few tries at gumming from our whole bananas and then he had a week of puréed which he ate right up). He has also had a taste of watermelon and Nana loves to give Jesse a little taste of lemonade.
At his last appointment, however, we were sure his complaining and screaming fits were teething related, , but when his doctor informed us his teeth are nowhere close (ugh...) she suggested going off solids for a week. Well he was cleansed out pretty well, but he has been eating every 2.5 hours around the clock. Needless to say, we are starting cereal back up this week. Which brings us to....

Sleeping: He is taking a short morning nap between 8 and 10 depending on when he wakes up, a noonish nap, a longer 3:00 nap and sometimes a short nap around 6 to get him to his bedtime which is 8:00 every night. During the milk cleanse he was up at 11pm, 2 or 3am and 5:30 with a wake up time around 7. Last night he slept through the night though!! First time in almost a month! It felt really nice.

Playing: he is ready to move! Jesse is getting great at sitting, falling to his belly from sitting, pushing up to all fours, and scooting backwards. As much as he hates tummy time still, he hates not being able to move around even more. He is in love with tags. You can put any toy in front of him and he will just go for the tag of it. He also loves to play with anything that isn't a toy. My phone, my water bottle, wipes, straws... He wants to grab them all.

Me! I've been going and going! Working on the weekends, taking jesse on stroller walks in the afternoon, editing photos after Jesse falls asleep. I LOVE being a photographer by the way. Every bit of it. It makes me feel so excited every time I think about it! Being able to do something I love and make it what I do. Check my website for updates and sneak peeks! Www.EmiBphotography.com
We just spent the afternoon putting together new porch furniture for Nana and it's so lovely out here right now. In fact, I am soaking up the setting sun and fresh air on the new love seat right now!
Here are a bunch of fun pictures from the iPad!
Enjoy!

5 days until 5 months

Life is so regular and simple, it's perfect.

Eating: Basically we are amazing at breastfeeding, it's a breeze. We are adding wheat cereal to his nightly routine. Avocados went over pretty well when we mixed it into the cereal. I want to add another food to his list, but I don't know which to go to. I'm thinking sweet potato or banana. Banana would be much easier, but I have to find my Baby Bullet recipe book and see what it says.
I can't wait to use this:

Yay for making baby food!

Sleeping: I used to have to walk him around and bounce for EVER until he was fast asleep, place him in the swing and pray he doesn't wake up so I could eat or pee or close my eyes for a moment. Now I put him in the swing and go do something, mostly doing dishes or laundry, and I look over to find he is asleep! It's so magical. This is great that we are doing this for naps. Night time is a little different, but it lasts longer so I don't mind rocking him in his rocking chair a little until he is mostly out.
He wakes up maybe 2 times a night for snacks and falls asleep again just like that. He takes a good morning nap around 9 (sometimes a noon nap if his morning nap was short or early) and a good afternoon nap around 2 or 3. (sometimes another quick nap around 5). Bed time is around 7. This has been staying pretty consistant, which I LOVE.
The next big thing is doing the big switch to the crib. o.o I don't know if I'm ready for that...

Playing: Jesse is great at sitting now. Sometimes he leans forward too much and basically is resting on his big ol' belly, but he knows about keeping himself up if he starts to fall a certain direction. Rolling is our new thing. He can put most of himself on his side, it's just that leg, if he can kick it over, he would have it. He still loves his jungle, the car and Mortimer. OH and don't forget Sophie, he takes her everywhere too... gadda chew on those ears of hers.
Tummy time is still an issue... he is still fussy and spits up within 5 minutes of being on his belly. Even when we try belly to belly (so it's not as hard as the floor) and he still wasn't having it.

Me!: ugh work started up. Ok, yeah it's great that we are making more money and yeah I'm getting up and seeing people and what not, but it's exhausting! All the walkinggg and carrying... I'll get back into shape soon, but it's the process that's painful.
But this my last year.
Wait, what?!
Because we are moving back to MARYLAND. BOOM.
Matt and I decided that it was time to get back to our roots, back to where we belong. The beach is great, it was our favorite place to visit, but now that we live here it's lost what we loved. Not to mention Alex (Matt's little brother)'s son is due TOMORROW and we want Jesse and Grayson to grow up together.
So this brings me to my next bit of news.
I am starting my own business of Newborn and Baby Photography!

EmiB Photography

I am currently taking clients in the Montgomery County, Frederick area as of November 1st. I will make special trips up if I need to come up earlier. I wouldn't pass up the chance to photograph a fresh new baby!

I've already had one client and I had so much fun. I have 3 newborns on the calendar, and a few babies and kids too. I can't wait.

Oh the wonders of technology....

I'm testing out my Blogger app! This might mean new big things and lots more posts! It seems great so far!

Ok eating: Jesse and I are just being amazing at breast feeding. We started nursing laying down in bed at night, it's more relaxing for me and I don't lose as much sleep, since sometimes I doze off. Jesse has always been a substantial little guy, it would be impossible to roll over on him. OH AND ALSO we started SOLIDS!! Can you believe it!? Whole wheat rice cereal mixed with breast milk, he is really good at taking a spoon. At first, he didn't really get it, but now he loves it! He leans towards anything you're eating now and wants to grab at your spoon. We are planning on mashing up some avocado for him soon! Real food. Wow.

Sleep: I think he's been teething because he has been waking up to nurse a few times a night. He is currently waking up from a 2 1/2 hour nap! We are starting to get consistent naps.

Playing: Jesse is getting so close to sitting up on his own. He got a new car jumper toy and loves to grab at things. His auntie Katie got him Mortimer the moose and he takes it everywhere!

Me! So I got my hair cut finally!! I love love LOVE it! I'm almost ready to unveil my big news, but its gonna be exciting when I tell you guys!

IPad pictures!!!
Let's see how this post works out!

Four Months?!

Wow... time is flying by!

Eating: So the biggest and most important update in this category is we stopped using the nipple shield!! Yes, it was small and it helped in the beginning, but then it became a problem, it was a pain in the butt and it prolonged the healing process. One day, he was so hungry I decided to try it and sure enough, he got it! And we have been shield-less for 3 days and going strong. I'm so proud of the both of us. Two months ago I never would have thought I would still be exclusively breast feeding, and here I am. I am trying to work on freezing some milk for when I go back to work (which is unfortunately speeding towards me). He is still drinking 6 oz every 2-3 hours. Except for at night... which brings us toooo:

Sleeping: Jesse has been a consistently great sleeper. He takes a morning nap, an afternoon nap and goes down between 7-9. Two nights in a row, he slept from 8 to 7 AM STRAIGHT. 11. hours. I was floored. He woke up once this morning at 4 which is totally fine. We do need to develop a more structured night time schedule even though he has pretty much been consistent for the most part.

Playing: He loves his jungle more than ever now that he can reach all the animals and bat them around. His Aunt Katie got him Mortimer the Moose! He has tons of stuff going on and it keeps Jesse occupied. PLUS he can hang on the car seat. Speaking of car seat, Jesse finally grabbed the bird toy and pulled it towards him! I was so excited. He is sitting up better and better and can hold a crunch for a while in attempts to go from lying down to sitting up. We are still working on tummy time because more than 4 minutes of it leaves him fussy for a while, but it's getting better.

Me!: I have some new mom friends! We met a while back when we were all pregnant and attending birth talk meetings. Now we go to a monthly breast feeding group. Since we all talked so much, we decided to meet more than once a month at each others houses for play dates. We also have a twice weekly stroller walk around the Wright Brother's Memorial when it's nice out. It's really nice to be able to talk to other mom's who are going through the same exact stuff since our little ones are all the same ages.
I got my hair cut!! Finally right?! It took me about 3 seconds to wash and dry it today, which I love and I'm donating it again, so it feels good to help someone else.
This morning, while I was in the shower (doing some of my best thinking as always). I was reminded at how much of a mess I was four months ago. Pushing a human out of your body is no small feat, and it's a wonder how many people act like it's not the most naturally difficult thing ones body could do. I was still extremely itchy, my leg was so sore I couldn't move it, I was exhausted, nauseous, trying to keep at least 500 calories in me to break even after trying to breast feed... it is hazy looking back at those days. Now, I'm beginning to start to think about things for me again. Starting slow with the hair cut and taking walks. I might make a few personal goals. My small breast feeding goal of making it to his 4 month appointment looks well within my reach, looking towards my medium 6 month goal. Once food is steadily in his diet, it will make my ultimate goal of a year a bit easier to achieve. Plus, once I reach my goal (aka as long as I can breast feed), I will buy myself an automatic coffee machine (like a Keurig or a Tassimo... I'm still researching my options).
Well it's late. Because of Day Light Savings, it's now 11:41 even though it only feels like 10:41... so I will leave you with a few pictures. Matt (read We) just got a new computer so the only two things I have at the moment are also hints into my new project I mentioned a little bit ago...

Jesse!

14 weeks old!

I'm too tired to think up something clever...

Eating: We are still exclusively breastfeeding! Powering through all the minor aches and pains. He weighed 14 1/2 lbs at the doctors yesterday so he's definitely not having trouble growing or eating for sure. It always makes me feel good to hear that from doctors. I did tell her about Jesse's tendency to get fussy around 45 minutes to an hour after he eats, and she suggested trying an elimination diet to see if anything is upsetting his digestion. So we are starting today with lactose and whey for 3 weeks and see if he feels better.

Sleeping: He has had some great nights. 10 hour stretches sometimes. Usually he does 8 hours, a snack at 5am, and then 3 more hours! But the past few days, he's been up 3 times a night to eat. I'm thinking growth spurt, Matt doesn't want to hear me say 'growth spurt' ever again because it's my reasoning for everything. Whatever it is has been keeping us up a lot lately.

Playing: Jesse has found a new love, his index finger. He has not only found his hands, but is smart enough to isolate his finger and put it in his mouth to chew on it. He is also getting really good at sitting up against pillows by himself and pushing himself up from slanting to sitting up! Doctor says we need to do more tummy time even though he hates it. It will help him develop faster (and have better handwriting in the future- crazy!) she showed us how rolling a small blanket under his chest takes the pressure off his belly. He still loves his jungle animal thing!

Me! : Valentine's day was nice! It started off with Jesse and I attending the monthly Breastfeeding Bistro. I got the ladies heart shaped donuts from DD, and there was a great turnout. When I got home, Matt said we have reservations at 6:30 so we spent the day playing with Jesse and around 5, I got ready (skinny jeans, dangly earrings, heels, the whole deal). We took Jesse to Nana's but it was already 6:30! Matt was all "we're going to be late!"... But after we turned back on to our street, I realized we were eating at home. Matt had put music on and had 2 dozen long stem red roses on the table. We lit candles, I drank wine and watched as he made me a delicious meal consisting of fillet mignon, asparagus, garlic mashed potatoes and salad. I had fun dipping strawberries in chocolate while eating my appetizer of bread in that delicious Italian seasoning-olive oil. Mmm. We had a lovely, quiet dinner and then watched an episode of How I Met Your Mother while eating the strawberries. Jesse slept (in his car seat) from 10:00 when we got back home, until 5:30!
I'm pretty sure I'm cutting my hair tomorrow. Eek!

Jesse's up! Time to feed him!

Getting the hang of this... Maybe.

Alright, 12 weeks old tomorrow and I am up at 9am on a Sunday posting a blog, that's a good sign. (not that time or dates mean anything to me anymore, but there it is).

Eating
We are steadily drinking 6oz at every feeding and promptly every 3 hours. Which means I am burning roughly 500 calories a day sitting on my butt making and serving milk. It was getting bad though, I was very close to quitting nursing the other morning. I have been suffering a painful latch every since he was born (consider every 3 hours for the past 12 weeks... 672 latches... give or take a few we skipped from sleeping over night and a few from pumping/formula bottles). I talked to some girls of mine who are well versed in baby-feeding and unofficially diagnose myself with vasospasms. From what I understand it's a blood flow issue (which makes sense due to my crazy anemia earlier). It's not dangerous or unhealthy, it just makes nursing hurt like a mother... So to temporarily remedy the situation, I have been exclusively pumping for the past 2 days. This has shifted some responsibility from myself to Matt, which I also needed. I like pumping because I can sort of do it on my own schedule, so long as it falls in the 3 hours after Jesse's last bottle. I also can monitor exactly how much he is eating and best of all! Pumping is way easier on me so it gives the gals a chance to catch up and heal a bit.

Sleeping: I have started to learn his tired cues so that he doesn't get so tired that he has a 2 hour meltdown every time he wants to sleep. Usually after a bottle, we'll play games and chat for about 30-45 minutes before he's yawning or seeming restless. That's when I start walking him around. He loves to look at everything so at first he thinks he's getting a treat. But after a little while (5-15 minutes of walking) he realizes he's tired and falls asleep. That's when I lay him in the snuggabunny (aka best thing EVER) and voila! Anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours of time is mine! 5 out of 7 nights a week he is going 6-8 hours between feedings. Now if we could only get ourselves to bed once we put him down, we'd be fine!

Playing: Last week Jesse found his hands! A lot of people were asking about it and talking about it like it was a huge milestone. I didn't think he had yet and was wondering what the big deal was. Until one day I noticed him looking right at his hands and moving them around to see every angle. He does this often and I think it's the most amazing thing. It's crazy how much he has to learn about the world. It's overwhelming thinking about it. But you gadda start somewhere, and he has- his hands. Other than that he still likes to play under his jungle animals and bat them around for a bit, until he gets bored of them.

Me! Most of the above updates are also updates on me, how well I'm sleeping and eating and playing as well. I have a bowl of oatmeal and a mug of Mother's Milk tea every morning to boost my milk. I've heard that there are also problems with over supply, but I would rather have that then the opposite. The past few days have been great. Learning how Jesse likes things and noticing he needs them before he gets upset is really helping. We had a lot of quiet time (not crying time) yesterday. Hopefully we're headed in the right direction and it wasn't just a fluke. I have been meaning to get my hair cut for the past 2 weeks and I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I plan to post before/afters should I end up doing it. Right now, Matt and Jesse are chatting to each other and it is heartwarmingly adorable.

Also, something exciting is on the horizon for me! But it's very early still- I'm trying to work everything out before I start spreading the word. But I'll give you a hint, I bought one of these the other day...

soooo you make your guesses but you will find out soon enough! :)

Some more pictures!

This is the blanket my dad gave him right before he was born! Thanks Dad! :)

The Fourth Trimester

So the first trimester we are simply exhausted. Turning a single cell into brains, arms, veins, bones, skin and all that other important stuff takes a lot out of a girl. I basically spent the whole first trimester napping on my couch. The second trimester is always every one's favorite. The bump starts showing, the scariest part (the first 12 weeks) is over, usually the words gets out, you become less tired and you find out the gender and go shopping! The third trimester you're starting to get over this whole incubating a tiny human deal. Everything gets huge, you're waddling, everyone keeps asking you when you're having your baby already and you're probably wondering the same. Then the horrifying, messy miracle of birth finally arrives! Welcome to the Fourth Trimester.

This term was made popular by Dr. Harvey Karp Author of Happiest Baby on the Block and inventor of the 5 S's. It's all about the first three months of a baby's life and how it really should be looked at more as a fourth trimester of pregnancy. A transition period for Mom and Baby to get used to the drastic change from an inside to outside baby.

My fourth trimester so far has been a whirlwind, as can be expected. Last night, my lil' guy wasn't feeling great, he wasn't taking to eating too much and his cries were more shrill and hurt sounding. So after our settling down nighttime routine, we were laying in bed, tummy to tummy. I was reminded of the nights I laid there staring at my belly and the little bumps and rolls made by a moving and shaking inside Jesse. I was taken back to wondering what he would look and sound like. Wondering how a contraction felt and when they would finally start. The concept of the 'Fourth Trimester' is mainly focused on the baby and how to comfort him in the transition, but as I shush and swing him side to side, I'm realizing how much of a transition I am going through as well.

I have learned to sleep in 3 hour blocks of time. I have racked up miles of walking around my house. I have gotten used to spending very long periods of time in my house and grossly in the same clothes. I have learned how to do almost anything with one hand (including laundry, making dinner and tidying up the house). I have learned how important iron and blood cells are to ones body (the hard way) and I have learned the unmatchable love a mother has for her child.

My body has stretched and changed to house a 7lb 5oz human. It had the strength to push him out of my body and the smarts to start making milk to feed him. Jesse and I have mastered the in's and out's of breastfeeding and continue to succeed. It's incredible that my body has just learned to change and grow when I needed it to. It's even more incredible to look at my now deflated belly on it's way back to flat and tight and think of how my smiling little boy once fit in there.

I truly believe that the first three months of a baby's life outside the womb is just as big of a change for them as it is for the moms. It takes some learning about each other and getting used to this new life, getting our bodies back to somewhat normal, and changing our priorities. 10 weeks in and I'm starting to see the light. I'm starting to see the life ahead of us glide into a pattern. Starting to feel normal in our daily routine and letting go of the first time parent fear at every movement or sound he makes. I get it now, the way life will be from now on. It absolutely takes time to see past the screaming, the moments of panic, to see over the piles of piles of dirty clothes and recover from the pains of birth and nursing. Life does return to something you recognize one day. Only permanently changed by an amazing and beautiful person that you have made and will love for the rest of your life. It's just that fourth trimester of pregnancy that is the hardest of them all and once you get through that, you can do anything.

See what I mean...?

So I figured out the problem...s!

#1 I have an infant who is very spoiled... I mean... loved.
#2 Blogging comes right after cleaning the house in my order of importance these days. (see below)
#3 The computer is in our bedroom where there is no good place for Jesse to hang out, so I'm never up there. I will talk to Matt about rearranging things so that the computer is downstairs in the living room.

That being said, I have a few moments to catch up.

Eating: He is up to 10lbs 8oz as of his last doctors appointment last Monday. We are still going about 3 hours between meals. Last night was great with a wopping 6 hours. I pumped 6oz while he was sleeping and he ate every last drop when he woke up. I'm drinking Mother's Milk tea to try to keep up with Jesse's growing belly. Jesse is also taking some anti-acid medicine twice a day to help with some minor reflux issues. He seems to yak just about the same amount as he did before, but he is more comfortable laying on his back, and can sleep better.

Sleeping: We are starting to hit a breakthrough I think. Three times in the past few days, I have laid him down while he was wide awake, and he has silently slipped off to sleep on his own! A remarkable difference from the constant walking until he is in a deep sleep, laying him down gently and praying he doesn't realize you ever stopped holding him. This could mean miraculous things for me, a little more time, and a little less crying around the house! (but let's not scare it away since it's still very new...)

Playing: Yes! This is recently a new thing too, going hand in hand with the whole, not crying if he realizes he's not being held phenomenon. I laid him down under his jungle animal toys and he batted them around for a good 20 minutes or so instead of just staring at things.

Me!: I'm still not working out yet, but I'm doing the normal human amount of walking, laundry basket carrying, grocery shopping type of physical activity which is an improvement! I really love hearing about the amount of weight I've lost from people who haven't seen me in a while (since I was a 9 month pregnant whale). Which is also great to hear because I'm eating almost constantly. I burn so many calories from all of the breastfeeding, I need to stuff more food in my mouth to keep up!

I read an amazing article this morning. Here's the link to it: Don't Carpe Diem. I'm just going to share my favorite part.

"I think parenting young children (and old ones, I've heard) is a little like climbing Mount Everest. Brave, adventurous souls try it because they've heard there's magic in the climb. They try because they believe that finishing, or even attempting the climb are impressive accomplishments. They try because during the climb, if they allow themselves to pause and lift their eyes and minds from the pain and drudgery, the views are breathtaking. They try because even though it hurts and it's hard, there are moments that make it worth the hard. These moments are so intense and unique that many people who reach the top start planning, almost immediately, to climb again. Even though any climber will tell you that most of the climb is treacherous, exhausting, killer. That they literally cried most of the way up."

This is quite possibly one of the best analogies for parenting I've ever read. The article is actually about how older ladies in the grocery store always say "Oh, enjoy EVERY moment, it goes so fast." And how more than half the time, you wish those screaming moments would in fact go by so fast, but they don't. And this doesn't make you a bad parent. It's more about seizing the precious moments (however few and far between they seem some days).

While I was reading about this wonderful idea, I was actually doing just that. I had fed Jesse last night at 9:30 and we headed to bed. Everyone slept until 3, and then went right back to bed. The next feeding wasn't until 8, so we had almost 10 hours of sweet sleep, with only about 45 minutes in the middle for nursing. I was so well rested that after 8, we went downstairs and played in that jungle toy. He was laying there smiling, batting around the little zebra and hippo and I was brewing my tea and checking facebook. We were just enjoying the morning until he started to get a little fussy. Now I was prepared to walk him and hear screaming for about another hour (like every other morning) but after putting some laundry in and walking for about 4 minutes, he was out! And the rest of my morning has been so peaceful, it's been so very nice.

As I mentioned before, here is the list of my priorities these days:

Jesse (feeding, changing, getting to sleep)
Eating
Sleeping
Checking Facebook

2 Months Later!

I never really understood how badly time gets away from you when you have baby. The last few weeks of my pregnancy went by SO slowly and I was so prepared- or so I thought. But once you have that little bundle of joy, there are things, small, simple things- calling someone back, mailing a letter or picking up a perscription- that you mean to get done one day, and before you know it, the day is over and you promise to do it the next day. Then you turn around and it's been a month. What?!

On Monday, Jesse will be 8 weeks old and from the outside it looks like I've been sitting around in the same Pj's, but a lot has happened with us. So let's grab that swiffer duster for my blog and see what happened these past weeks.

Eating: Those first few days when my milk hadn't come in seems so simple now looking back on it. I only had to just try and that was enough. Then my milk came in on day 3 or 4 and it seemed like I was in business. There was only one little problem. Jesse was tounge-tied. You know that little piece that attatches your tounge to the bottom of your mouth? Jesse's was so close to the tip of his tounge that he couldn't even stick his tounge out(something we found was genetic- thanks short tounge!). We were quickly sent to an ENT to fix the problem (an easy, quick procedure they said). Well quick and easy was an understatement. The doctor came in, noticed Jesse was asleep, opened up his mouth to take a peek and SNIP! It was done. Of corse Jesse woke up screaming and of corse I was horrified and on the verge of running to find him some pain meds. The doctor told us to try nursing (because when I get a serious mouth injury, the first thing I want to do is try to eat...) Jesse was a little upset so we didn't get much nursing done, but it was surprisingly quickly healed and now he sticks his tounge out all the time!
Lately, we've been doing well, fighting to keep my supply up enough for my growing boy, but I seem to be making just enough these days. There is that 5-10 seconds of latching before my milk lets down that are pillow gripingly painful, but then he's drinking and I'm so happy I can do this for him and all I have to do is sit there while he drinks, plus this is when I get my snuggles in. I notice little changes in his face, brush through his little hairs with my fingers, hold his soft little hand. (you can't cry if you're busy drinking, so it's also a nice break from the fussy sounds he seems to make a lot.)

Sleep: We thank our lucky stars at least once a day that we both have the winter off. We are constantly wondering how working parents function at all. And I seem to think we have a great sleeper! I can't imagine having a colicky, fussy baby all night and then getting up to work for 8 hours, 5 days a week. No thank you!
He usually wakes up around 7 or 8 to eat and likes to stay awake afterwords. Sitting up and looking around at our curtains with big stripes or big pictures on the walls. He might take a nap somewhere between 10 and 12. It's usually a shorter nap. The long two naps he takes are usually around 4 and 6 and last until we head to bed around 10, and then sleeps for a good 5 hour chunk after that. And usually he is really great at falling asleep with a full belly. Usually. Now there are nights (like last night, for instance) where he wakes up every 3 hours and cries for an hour... I'm blaming it on growth spurts.
Jesse is also really great with noises around him while he's sleeping. Everyone who comes over while he's asleep always starts off whispering and I'm like, we can talk normally, he doesn't even notice.

Our travles! Anyone who is facebook friends with me most likely followed us on our Meet Jesse! Holiday Tour 2011. We decided to spend 8 days traveling through 5 states and showing off our amazing little guy to our friends and family. We spent a few days in our hometown near Frederick, Maryland, a night in Cumberland, MD, a few nights in Cleaveland, OH (which is 13 hours from NC!). We spend a total of 22 hours on the road over the 8 days we were gone. Good thing Jesse is great in car rides- pretty much sleeps the whole time. Poor thing was probably so sick of his carseat by the time we got home. We really should have taken a picture, but we had SO much in our car. Matt, Jesse and I each had a suitcase, we had the diaper bag, a bag for my breastpump/nursing stuff, blankets and pillows, the stroller and of course we unexpectidly got presents everywhere we went, had presents we had to wrap and give people for Christmas, and a few bags of stuff we just went shopping for while we were out.

ME! So, my pregnancy was wonderful, my labor was pretty great as far as labors go, somewhere I had to get my payback right? Recovery. Something I rarely have ever had to deal with. The first week was the hardest, not being able to walk (my wonderful mother in law spent my whole 15 minutes of pushing jamming my leg into my hip- with perfectly good intentions of course!) I have almost needed a blood transfuion because my iron was so low, I could barely stand up without getting really dizzy and I'm still working on walking without a waddle. It's coming up on 8 weeks now and I'm just now starting to feel normal. I'm starting to wear jeans that button and zip, a bra with wire and wearing my hair down occasionally. I've lost 27 pounds since giving birth and just got the OK to start working out again! As my Midwife said, we are on the upswing. Finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel of this crazy recovery process.

I'm shocked that I've actually had this much time to write this, but now it's time to feed Jesse again! I hope that brings us up to speed, and I'll try to post a liiiitle more often than every 2 months...

Picture post to come when Jesse takes his next nap (hopefully, it might not get done until tomorrow though....).

Wow....

Wow guys.... I win laziest blogger award.... Baby life is crazy. If I have a free moment for myself, I'm usually trying to put food in my belly, pee, or take a nap... But I'll find time to update very soon, I promise!
